Logan Monk

Al let us know that our friend and fellow Cruiser fanatic Logan Monk, of Albemarle, was taken from us far too soon on April 12. Logan, also known as alkaline747trio on the ‘Mud Forum, was only 21 years old. In his short time with us, Logan had a lasting impact on everyone and he will be missed.

Our most sincere condolences go out to Logan’s Family, and to all of his friends.

New Website User Registrations Suspended Temporarily

One of the drawbacks of a growing website with many links back to us, and national magazine exposure, is the loser nutjobs come out to try and hack the site. Thus, for the time being, new user account creation is suspended.

Don’t fear! If you’re a Member of ONSC, or a prospective Member, or just a Toyota 4WD fan in the Carolinas and surrounding areas, email me at j o e m i c c i at-symbol o v i d o t c o m with email Subject “ONSC Website Registration”, and include your Real Name, the username you’d like, and I’ll promptly create your profile and send you details.

Remember, anyone can browse the site at any time! However, only Registered Users can post articles, photos, calendar events, etc.

Thanks for your understanding.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore Plan is Finalized

The NPS decided to move forward with Alternative F to manage the divergent interests on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This plan has consequences for ORV use on the Outer Banks, to include a permit and education system, managing of vehicle density, permanent beach closures and Vehicle-Free Areas (VFA’s) in certain areas, greater clarity around which areas are open, ramp closures and new ramp construction, and seasonal closures for turtles and our friend the Piping Plover.

Overall, Alternative F appears to be a decent compromise for everyone, especially the Residents and Business Owners on the OBX who would have been severely impacted by some of the other alternatives.
