March Update

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the 2013 Meet and Greet!  We had a blast, learned how to Tread Lightly, and got to meet some new faces!Just coming back from the last work weekend before opening weekend at Uwharrie, and we got a lot accomplished on Wolf’s Den. New guide rail on the entrance, tail ditches cleaned out along with the creek crossing, the stinky mud hole was trenched for easy drainage, and a new Kiosk. Trash was of course cleaned out along the way. Keep these points in mind when traveling, and make it a point to stop and inspect them. A little monthly check and cleaning should keep these areas in good shape!
Thanks to Johnny and Joe who rolled out the new updated ONSC website!

Next event is the Leith Toyota Truck Show, sponsored by the NCFJ Cruiser club. I’d like for a good turnout, especially for our nicer older model Cruisers.

And the following weekend is the 2013 Spring Tide Ride. Yes, it’s still on, and more information will be coming on that. It’ll be the first weekend of May, however those wishing for a full week at the beach, I’ll have more information…

So, that being said, Spring is almost here! Get the final touches on your rig as Uwharrie opens in two weeks and it’ll be wheelin’ time again!

Tellico Hearing August 23rd Bryson City, NC

It appears the Judge has set aside the entire afternoon for the case. This means he may allow each side an hour to present. The FS and intervenors most likely will share the time allocated. SFWDA will present first, the FS and intervenors will present second, then most likely SFWDA will have a few minutes for rebuttal. Remember only the respective lawyers will present.

Please be reminded that it is very unlikely that a decision will be rendered on August 23rd. You will most likely be disappointed if you attend expecting to hear a decision. The decision will usually take 30 to 90 days. It may be in our best interest that the Judge take his time to consider everything in the case. Also, remember that any decision can be appealed by the opposing side.

Please re-post this information on other 4×4 boards and forums to help spread the word.

I look forward to seeing you on the 23rd in Bryson City, NC.

Thank you for your support.

Greetings for 2012

We have a new Vice Presidents for the Triangle, Triad, Charlotte, and the Coastal area. We also continue to expand, so we’re adding a Mountains Vice President…

We’ve already had one HAMOM “Help a Member of the Month”, in which 5 or 6 members completely dismantled a FJ45 to bare tub and axles in about 6 hours. Pretty impressive! 2 other guys (the President and Triangle Vice President) spent their time doing some fab work on a rear tire and cooler carrier for a 4x4LABS rear bumper. Pictures will be posted…

February will see our annual Meet and Greet event, in which all members and their families are invited out to meet everyone. It’s great time to get the kids out and let them run, talk trucks, and enjoy some great fellowship. The Board of Directors will be formally announced, the schedule will be “unveiled”, and we’ll have some official club business.

Some changes will be evident, the website will be utilized more for the official schedule. Most chit chat about the particulars, will be on IH8MUD.com, which continues to be our forum for conversation. If you hadn’t checked out IH8MUD, follow the link on the main page. Please email Joe the webmaster for any problems you might see in order to keep the website up to date and well used. It’s a daunting task, keep him informed!

There will be a corresponding trip to Uwharrie on months that we have a longer distance trip, to make sure we have activities in case you don’t feel like the trek across this great state (or SC, VA, KY, or TN).

So, here’s to a Great 2012. Use the spring to get your rig running in top shape, because we’re going to have an adventuresome year!
